    Beyond the Nation: Diasporic Filipino Literature and Queer Reading argues for a queer diasporic approach to the neglected Filipino literary tradition. This interdisciplinary framework has two main components, one focusing on history and diaspora, the other on the politics and poetics of individual works. The book locates the emergence of Anglophone Filipino literature as a direct consequence of U.S. colonialism in the Philippines, and it examines the ways that this colonial history and migration to the imperial metropole result in a complex set of stances toward both the Philippines and the U.S.
